**Open School Week for parent visits: Tuesday Nov.12 Grades 1 and 4: 8:15-10:15 AM. Wednesday Nov.13 Grade 3: 8:15-10:15 AM and Grade K: 8:45-10:15 AM. Friday Nov.15 Grades 2 and 5: 8:15-10:15 AM
**There will be no NIA, 185 After School or Enrichment Programs on Thursday Nov. 14. ALL STUDENTS will be dismissed at 11:10 on Thursday 11/14 due to our Parent Teacher Conferences.

There is NO SCHOOL on Monday, 11/11 in observance of Veteran’s Day. If you know or see a member of the military or a veteran, be sure to thank them for their service! The Bay Ridge Veteran’s Day Parade will be held on Third Avenue on Monday.
Our WORLD’S FINEST CHOCOLATE CANDY SALE fundraiser continues and will run until 11/12. Be sure to have your family and co-workers place their orders. There are lots of great prizes!
Report Cards will be distributed on Wednesday, 11/13.
Your appointment for this year’s Parent Teacher conference with your child’s teacher on Thursday Nov.14 should be made on our school website ps185.org on the ‘Parent Teacher conferences Sign Up’ tab. Instructions came home to you in a letter this past week. Reach out to your child’s teacher by Wednesday, 11/13 if you are unable to book your appointment online. Also, please return your signed tear off that you are aware of the EARLY DISMISSAL on 11/14.
IMPORTANT - 5th grade parents: PLEASE continue to submit your Middle School applications online. Very few parents have done so L Contact me at email@example.com if you have not received your instruction letter from the Department of Education in the mail. It has the Creation Code needed to set up the MySchools account where you must submit your child’s MS application. If you had a change of address and did not notify the main office with documentation (not just the Blue Card) you must do so ASAP. The change may affect your Zoned School offer. Remember the deadline is Monday Dec. 2nd. Feel free to contact me if you need assistance with the online application or would like to receive a paper application. Note: PS 229 has rescheduled their OPEN HOUSE date from 10/29 to 11/18 at 6:00 PM.
Also…be sure to read the letter that came home to you yesterday regarding the 5th grade graduation activities and fees.
From the PTA: PS 185's Scholastic Book Fair will be held on Thursday, Nov 14 and November 15. (Letters are coming home). Books range in price and we encourage you to send your child in with at least $5 or $10. Additionally, this year our Book Fair has a digital payment option. Please drop off all donations in the PTA office near security. And last, but not least, would you like to grow your child's classroom library? Parents this year will have the option of purchasing gift certificates (in any amount) that would enable your classroom teacher(s) to expand their libraries. Remember to ‘SAVE THE DATE’ - March 6th, 2020 to attend PS 185’s 28th Annual Spring Gala! It is a fun filled night of food, music and prizes as well as their biggest fundraiser. Flyers regarding Sponsor donations, family donations and Gift Wish lists are coming home to you. You’ll a chance to purchase a MEGA RAFFLE TICKET, for a chance at winning $10,000.00. Be sure to check your child’s backpack for these important papers. Additional copies will be available outside the main office and at our PTA meetings.

-Please be sure that your child comes to school in the proper attire on the days they have Phys. Ed. They must be in sneakers with shoelaces or velcro! No dresses, jeans, sandals, flip-flops or boots. Your teacher can tell you what days they have Phys. ED.
-Our free breakfast program is open to all students. The doors are open for breakfast at 7:10 and close 7:40am! This is not an early drop-off for students. They MUST be there to eat breakfast. NO STUDENTS WILL BE ADMITTED BETWEEN 7:40 – 7:50. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CHILD UNSUPERVISED OUTSIDE THE BUILDING! Monthly breakfast and lunch menus can be found on the DOE website, School lunch is free for all NYC public school students. You can send your child in with lunch if you wish. If you choose to have them eat a school lunch, you will not be billed. We are required to have ALL PARENTS complete a federal lunch/family income inquiry form, either a hard copy, which came home to you or online at nyc.applyforlunch.com. That information is important to our school funding. We need this form from ALL FAMILIES…..even if you don’t have your child/children eating the free lunch.
It is advisable to have your child’s name on their backpacks, lunchboxes, water bottles and in their jackets/coats when the weather gets cool. Our Lost & Found, located on the first floor, overflows with items that the students leave behind.
**ALL visitors must stop at Security and show ID to enter the building**
-NO STROLLERS OR SCOOTERS ARE PERMITTED IN THE BUILDING. This is a Fire Department regulation.
