GALA, MEGA RAFFLES, MOVIES & 5th GRADE ANNOUNCEMENTS

Next Friday, 2/1 we will hold a “Read Aloud Day” to promote reading awareness. Students can bring in their favorite book (write name inside) and we will have visitors and volunteers read to the children throughout the day. Our Student Council will have tables set up to start up a BOOK DRIVE collecting new and “gently” used books to enrich our classroom libraries. You will also be able to “fund a book” with a $5.00 donation going towards fulfilling a teacher requested book wish list that directly correlates to our Teachers College curriculum. NEXT PTA MEETING WILL BE HELD THIS THURSDAY, JANUARY 24, 2019 @6:30PM! HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!!! There is no school on Monday 1/21 in observance of Martin Luther King Day. Friday 1/25 will be ‘NAME DAY’ here at 185. The Name Jar, our January book of the month led us to this activity. Everyone will be given a name tag to wear for the day showing their first name. Students may try to find out the meaning of their name or the story behind their name on this day. It’s also a way to introduce yourself to another person and make a new friend. GALA The PTA’s Annual Spring Gala will be held on Friday, March 8, 2019, at the Dyker Beach Golf Club. It will be a fun filled night of dinner, dancing

Brain Show, Chip Friday, Food Drive, College Awareness and Important Fifth Grade Announcements

This is a packed week of great events at PS 185. On Friday, January 11th, it is CHIP Friday. Please send your child in with a $1 or $2 to help support the 5th Grade. Friday, January 11th is also College and Career Awareness Day throughout the DOE. Have your child/children wear something from your alma mater or relevant to your career. They will be going home with a blank pennant to be decorated with a family members college name and colors or of what they want to be when they grow up. These pennants will be hung up around the school. An evening performance of the BRAIN SHOW is also scheduled for Friday, January 11th. . Doors open at 6:45 PM for a 7:00 start of the show.
