Week of October 8 Events and Important Things to Know

October 5, 2018

A huge thank you to our wonderful Photography Committee chaired by Sophia Madimenos and Lia Athineos.  Pictures should hopefully be in by Thanksgiving.  And don't fret if you missed Picture Day since retake/make-up day is scheduled for November 28.

Thank you to our amazing volunteers who helped out at Chip Friday that was held this week.   Chip Fridays are usually held on the first Friday of each month during the 3 lunch periods. All items are $1.00 each.  Some of the funds raised help support our 5th grade graduation expenses. The next Chip Friday is November 2.

Remember Monday, October 8 schools will be closed.

The meeting of the School Leadership Team will take place on Thursday, October 11 from 2:45 to 5:45PM.  All parents are invited to observe.

***Fifth grade parents:  Your student should have brought home this year’s list of MS Open House dates as well. This year’s Middle School application must be completed online.  You will be getting a Creation Code mailed directly to your home from the DOE soon.  You’ll use that code to do the application online. Mary Maguire will be setting up a date to do a workshop at school but there will be two (2) information sessions regarding the new process during the MS Fair. The deadline to submit your application will be December 3 this year.  Mark Twain’s request for testing must be done online as well. Feel free to contact Mary Maguire with any questions you may have.

The PS 185 Book of the Month for November is Big Red Lollipop by Rukhsana Khan. Special thanks to Lindsay Errigo Cappello for purchasing the October book of the month for our school!  While we already found a parent to generously donate the 30 copies of the November book for our school so that each class can read it and engage in related activities, we will need parents for future months.  Stay tuned.

NEXT PTA MEETING is OCTOBER 18, 2018 @6:30PM
