** 5th GRADE PARENTS: THE DEADLINE FOR YOU TO SUBMIT YOUR CHILD’S MIDDLE SCHOOL APPLICATION AT MYSCHOOLS.NYC IS MONDAY, DECEMBER 3RD. Contact Mrs. Maguire if you have NOT received your Middle School application CREATION CODE that was mailed to your home in late October. One can be printed out if necessary. The application is specific to your child. There is an instructional tutorial on each page after you sign in with your Creation Code. You can submit your application with up to 12 choices. If interested, you can “Register to Test” for 1 or 2 Mark Twain Talent Tests on your application as well. Be sure to scroll down and click on “SUBMIT” when you are done. Once submitted you can print out your completed application to keep for your records.
We are holding our annual TOYS for TOTS holiday toy drive from November 13th to December 7th. A collection box is set up on the 1st floor by the Lost & Found. Any new and unwrapped toys would be greatly appreciated. Please no STUFFED ANIMALS.
We had a great response to our ‘Mickey Mouse ears’ Relay for Life fundraiser and students will receive their “ears” on Monday morning to celebrate Mickey Mouse’s 90th birthday. Orders that were sent in after Thurs. 11/15 cannot be honored and your money will be returned to you. This year there is a link on our website, ps185.org to make donations directly to our Relay for Life team. All funds are donated to the American Cancer Society.

On Saturday, 12/1 PS 185 students can go to the Alpine Theater to see Wreck It Ralph 2/ Ralph Breaks the Internet. Tickets will only be sold at the door…no pre-sale tickets. The theater will open at 9:30 for a 10:00 AM show. Each ticket will include a small popcorn and drink.
Remember to mark your calendar for the PTA’s Annual Spring Gala on Friday, March 8th at the Dyker Beach Golf Club. It will be a fun filled night of dinner, dancing and prizes! It’s also the biggest fundraiser for our school!
There are many committees that are looking for parent volunteers. All of them benefit your child/children so consider volunteering for one or two!!!
The monthly PTA meeting will be held on December 13th at 6:30pm in the auditorium. The Chorus will be performing. December's Rising Stars will also be acknowledged.
