Our Mission Statement

Public School 185 will provide a quality education for all of our students by implementing the Common Core Learning Standards, maximizing potential and providing a nurturing and supportive environment. We will encourage independent learning and critical thinking, the development of civil and social skills and the recognition and acceptance of cultural differences. By involving parents and collaborating with the community, we will strive to create students who are lifelong learners and productive members of society.

Principal's Welcome

Welcome to PS 185!

We would like to welcome our new Assistant Principal Mrs. Funaro, we are excited to have you be apart of our school community!

Our school provides an environment that allows students to develop values, function in the community as responsible decision-makers and become lifelong learners. The curriculum supports all students in meeting and exceeding high academic expectations in a challenging performance based learning environment. The teachers have practical and professional attitudes towards students and spend whatever time and effort is necessary to assure that all students learn. Teachers provide a warm and supportive environment, where specific praise is given when deserved, student contributions are respected and positive interactions with the students are maintained. The instruction has clear goals and students are not only expected to learn facts and solve problems but organize information in new ways to formulate problems themselves. A highly effective partnership between staff and parents ensures the intellectual, social, and creative growth of all students.

Mrs. Goudelias, Principal

Mrs. Funaro, Assistant Principal

Immunization Requirements

School Year Immunization Requirements

All students should be up-to-date with their immunizations to avoid exclusion from school.  See the New York State Immunization Requirements below.  As of June 13, 2019, NYS no longer allows religious exemptions from mandated vaccines.

School recesses are the ideal time to bring your children’s vaccines up-to-date.

Regarding Kindergarten students:  Please be advised that NYS law requires that the children have their vaccines at or after the 4th birthday to enter school.   The recommended immunization schedule does suggest that there is a range for administration of the vaccines at 4 - 6 years but NYS law takes precedence over this range.  All students must be up-to-date with their vaccinations in order to attend school.   Do not wait until your child's "age 5 well-visit" - all students must have all required vaccines by September or they will be excluded from school.
