If your child cannot log in to their NYC Students account:
✔ Go to the NYC Schools Account and change password
✔ Contact your child's teacher
✔ Include your child's name and class
Technology Expectations

Each student should keep a pair of wired, over-the-head headphones in their classroom for daily learning activities. Please label the headphones with your child's name and send them to school as part of the required school supply list. Families may be asked to replace headphones during the school year if they become damaged or stop working.

Help your child become an independent digital learner by practicing how to log in to their school accounts at home. Students should know their NYC Students username and password and be able to access platforms like TeachHub and Google Classroom with minimal assistance. Taking a few minutes to practice throughout the year can help prevent login issues during class and homework time.
🌐 Digital Citizenship & AI Guidance
As we kick off the new school year, NYC Public Schools has released official guidance on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and screen time in our schools. Our priority in District 20 is ensuring a safe, balanced, and human-centered educational experience for all of our students!
Here are the key highlights every family should know:
• 1-Year Pause on Generative Al for Grades 2-K through 8
To protect critical social development and hands-on foundational learning, student-facing generative Al tools (including chatbots) are paused for elementary and middle school students.
Recommended Daily Screen-Time Limits
Grades 3-5: Max 30 minutes/day on individual devices
Grades 6-8: Max 45 minutes/day on individual devices
Focus remains on hands-on learning, active discussion, and face-to-face interaction!
Al Supports Teachers, Never Replaces Them
Educators may use approved Al for lesson planning and translation. However, Al will never be used for grading, behavior monitoring, or high-stakes decisions like IEP development or promotion.
Privacy & Assistive Tech First
Student privacy is strictly protected (no student data used for training commercial models). Exceptions apply to support English language learners and essential assistive technology for students with disabilities.
